Ok long story short...
I have a vitamin D defiency and started taking high dose vit d tabs last year. Once a day. I just got home from seeing my diabetic specialist and he said 1 I'm not taking enough (he wants me to take it 4 times a day) and 2 lack of vitamin D can be linked to muscle pain so he wouldn't be surprised if my muscle pain is worse because of it. I've read this in a few places and I think there actually might be some truth to it.
Seeing as a lot of ME'ers and FM'ers can't get outside that much there is a real possibility that you could be lacking in Vitamin D and not even realise it. I recommend getting blood tests a few times a year to see how the levels are going not just for muscle pain but because it causes muscle weakness also. Anyways I found some interesting links and I've copied some stuff from a few sites
I found that interesting because I get a lot of muscle spasms

Vitamin D is a major controller of the entire immune system. Depressing vitamin D will turn down (or off) the immune system so your immune-response symptoms may disappear -- however, it also means that the infections that you have will no longer be fought and will rapidly reproduce. The reports of a strong herx reaction from 1 mg of minocycline after reducing vitamin D (when 200mg produced no herx before) appears to because of this rapid unhindered growth of the infections. This turning off of the immune system does not apply to just bacteria sensitive to minocycline, but across the board to other infections: cancer virii, viral etc. Suppress vitamin D levels have cause diabetes to appear in test animals while their match sibling with adequate vitamin D never developed diabetes.
